Natural Sleep with Melatonin

melatoninWe all have trouble sleeping from time to time. Maybe it’s the stress from work or family problems or relationship issues. Whatever the case, these are things that will contribute to your body’s natural development of Melatonin. Melatonin is produced by the body to help regulate and control sleep. During the day, the body produces much less of this chemical, allowing you to have a normal, functioning day. In the evenings, especially after the sun as gone down and its dark, the body begins to create more Melatonin to encourage your body to rest. When the body is under stress, or even sometimes due to a lot of traveling, it produces less and less of this chemical, leaving you to a restless evening.

Melatonin is sold as a natural supplement over the counter in most drug stores now, and was created to assist in getting a good night’s sleep. Some is made using artificial ingredients, and some is made from animals. Melatonin, in pill form, works in conjunction with your body’s own natural production of this chemical, to produce the melatonin you need to fall asleep and stay asleep.

In some reports of insomnia, people who chose to take Melatonin as a way to ensure a good night’s sleep, found it much easier to fall asleep. In some of the cases, many of them over slept as a result of the drug. Some of the Melatonin side effects included light headed or dizziness, some sluggishness during the day, dry mouth, and some reported slight head aches during the day. As with any new drug you plan to talk, you should consult your doctor or physician before doing so to ensure that the chemical is right for you, and to ensure that it doesn’t counter act any other medication you may be taking.
