Diet Tips to Improve Your Skin
Diet Tips to Improve Your Skin
So you constantly have oily skin, and this is leading to a pretty regular rate of face acne? You’ve implemented a good skincare routine and are using an acne blemish treatment, but it doesn’t seem to be making much of a difference. So you’re ready to try something else, and you think a good place to start is with your diet. It often is the case that when we are busy and stressed, our diets tend to go to the dogs. Not only does stress add to the likelihood of breakouts, but when you are putting junk into your body, you’re at least doubling the chances.
Diets targeted at reducing face acne usually don’t have hard or fast rules, because acne can have so many different things that set it off. Because there are so many that might be the root cause of acne, it is a case of trialling variations of a diet until you get it right. As with many diets, discipline and constant monitoring are essential. On top of that, it will be well worth trying external application of natural products, so I have devoted a section to this as well.
Here are some ideas that might help you overcome face acne by improving your diet.
This is the most basic way of overcoming acne. By cutting out any and all processed food in your diet, this especially includes anything which contains sugar, fats, flour, and salt in its list of ingredients, your body is able to break down compounds far more easily and quickly. Substitute this with unlimited amounts of fresh fruit and vegetables and unprocessed meats, vegetables and carbs. I find it quite useful to do a single big meal each day. This can be boring, but it saves time when you’re on the run. So basically a diet rich in natural whole foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans is ideal. There are some juicer recipes that can help too.
One thing that does really affect the look of your skin is how healthy your liver is. It may seem a bit mad, but believe it or not, your liver and gall bladder are key to having clean skin. I personally have found that doing a liver cleanse is one of the best ways to get acne free, and stay that way. I have done it four times now, the last being yesterday, and my skin is so much more clean than it was even 3 days ago. Most of the pimples just seem to shut up shop after I do a liver flush.
overproduction of sebum, the oil that lubricates our skin. This is fundamentally a hormonal problem that triggers the sebaceous glands, beneath our skin, to become overactive. This can often be a hereditary problem or the result of hormonal changes in our life. Hormonal changes during puberty and the teenage years is a well known risk factor. Pregnancy, the menstrual cycle and menopause are times when sebum production may increase in women.
do it! Excessive washing can remove too much sebum, which in turn will signal the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum! This can be a classic mistake when dealing with oily skin. Using glycerin soap can be beneficial, it is much kinder on the skin and doesn’t contain chemicals that can cause more problems.
